The Behemoth's Den


Map Notes

  • The dead trees can be destroyed for fighting practice.
  • The stone does nothing special.
  • The ladders here and in the Lightning Clan Glen can be used to avoid the behemoths.

    • Description

    The Behemoth's Den is named for the enormous saurians that prowl its environs. An alert party can find scattered weapons from a hapless bowyer.

    Monsters

    Four behemoths prowl the area, and will likely be more than a match for your party. Fight them through evasion -- strike a quick blow and back away. Attack from behind whenever possible, and use missiles and spells. The blow from one of these massive beasts will hurl your party back one square, possible injuring your rear ranks.

    Behemoths can be slaughtered for a generous yield of steaks, useful both for eating and selling. An enterprising party can hone their combat skills on the behemoths, then sell the resulting meat for a sizable profit.

    Descriptions

    A. This path leads back to the Lightning Clan Den.
    B. This mist-shrouded path leads to the first clan key.
    C. A ladder down the bat caves -- it can be used as a safer path to the Lightning Clan Glen.
    D. This ladder leads to another potion of the bat caves, with an exit across the den.
    E. The ladder out of the above shortcut.
    F. A slayer arrow, very effective against the behemoths.
    G. A bow
    H. A quiver holding eight arrows
    I. Two arrows
    J. A steak
    K. An arrow
    L. This path will be blocked by a hedge until you explore the wolve's den
    M. This path leads to the wolve's den.
